Beyond Set Limitations

by David Lester Young — Read all 1,103 poems by David Lester Young

In many ways, I am a half way there, poet that in questioning my verse, I become ingrained as a rutted crusted poet.

Beyond Set Limitations

Half way there
Half way back
One wonders to advance
Or ponders to retreat.

To move forward, to upturn unknowns
To move downward, be rutted knowns
Lifetime be full of repeat, repeat retractions
Being pessimistic - submissive, maybe tomorrow.

Morrow of tomorrow, become chronic complaisant
That elusive dream, be felled, in half way there - pivots
Leaving divots that pile up repeating, repeating defeats
Refreshed morn spirits, set out that things, must change.

No way never more
No wear for evermore
No, no, I cannot do it anymore
No, no, I cannot give up, for somehow
I have to, forevermore go, Beyond Set Limitations.
