Fork

by David Lester Young — Read all 1,103 poems by David Lester Young

I tear my words with meanings sometimes, to show the dessert in the desert.

Some people fork up the day, when they needed to fork down breakfast.

Poem Artwork

Fork

Fork turned around peas, amid mashed potatoes
As the dam broke, the gravy flooded them both
Some people do not like, mixing things up congested
But inside our stomachs, things swirl around digested.

Now, why did I use, the right fork turn today, wandering
Pondering, a bite of hamburger steak, with ketchup added
Had, I used the left fork, things would have been easier
Sipping a glass of water that right side, was flooded over.

Had to come back, and use the other side, pass me carrots
And broccoli, lucky that tree fell, after I went by, its timber
This is a good dinner, as things churned-chewed inside teeth
Swallowing contemplation, knew I should have used that other
Fork.
