The Quiet Was Stilled

by David Lester Young — Read all 1,103 poems by David Lester Young

A Wake from the yester, I awoke dawn in a morning yawn's present pre-sense; I wrote down the Title and two hours later in rhyme, this tick tock peace of mind, was brought to RIP draft fruition.

The Quiet Was Stilled

A Wake, more alive, than dead ends
But this reflection, stilled in RIPples
Polished emery, echoes time and again
What was, what is, what is now - stilled memory.

Distant tick tock, winds down downtrodden
A sigh whisper, breaths shallow, then exhales
Hollow would sound that bark rings around
Expending circle girths, rooted in place mats.

Right eye, to left I; knows future fallow trials
Lay in trepidation, tintinnabulation alarm bells
As death knell approaches, its sickle scythe position
Time cycles, cut down swaths - grandfather clock.

As gravity pulls, tinnitus reigning chain, bounds shackles,
Future Bee futile increments, whipped onto hourglass reins
Minute - silent second sand falling -  to final conclusions
Dye fingers stain, dew HeART Beats tap dance on emery board.

Keyboard plank - Ker plunk, bee-comes polish stilled see shore
Wake of For Ever More, amid petrified grave - perpetual silence.
Grasp NOW moment, in yester lost, morrow fast approaching
That somewhere in between some-time ~ RIP Quiet Bee Stilled.

We all face the Grim Reaper. You open it up with a Wake, signifying death. And you ended with RIP for rest in peace. For many, that is the only piece they will get.
