amidst this Vietnam Conflict
Who would turn
into a War -
1966 graduation
Draft of selective service –
“MAN”date enlistment.

What if
what if -  
college had been
viable option
Alas
working families
be come wartime pawns
1963 JFK Camelot
who heard
“I have A Dream”
To then
 three months later
face
JFK assassination.

Oh dye sorrows
dew wail
adrift 1963’s
American Dream
Wence America
must survive
solemn 1963
death knell
Wake.
Body bags from
Hamburger Hill
brought home ~
high school
We will take
you Marines
Army will wait
for HS diploma.

No millionaire
no politician friends
blue collar pauper
No scholarships
getting eminent domain
draft notices
One enlists in
Vietnam War Theater’s
flag draped coffin
Praying that
“I Have A Dream,”
could come home
alive.

Butt
1968 Dream
 brought crashing
downtrodden bullets
Where MLK vision
met JFK’s rifle
assassination dire fate
Then two months later
RFK was cut down -
in Los Angles
I to eye
built field of Dreams
trampled over
heart broken.

“I Have A Dream”
teeter totter times -
I HAD A dreaM
Hope –HopeLess;
Future – FutureLess;
Vision – VisionLess
Writing heartbeats
emotional roller coaster
crash dummy barriers
Humpty Dumpty
piecemeal glued
in half-ass
piece sown emotions

What be
inner peace
lies distraught
inside quagmire
churn  recesses
Laid off
downsized
fired
terminated;
American War
Veteran dreaM
Who remembers
that 1963 -
sixteen year old
before Vietnam strife
But He remembers
what they said
soldiers were fighting
there overseas for.

January 6, 2021
did say
what people died for
since 1776 -
Be for naught
That politicians
can use Hate
to destroy
what American Dreams -
stands for
Wherein our Votes
be come pre 1963
I have A Voting Dream -
Be GONE
I HAD A dreaM
my shallow solemn
torn tears prove it
MLK was wrong.
That sixteen year
old dreamer
lost his Camelot
dreamer hope visions.
