1963 Deep Well Sweet Sixteen Birthday Wishes

by David Lester Young — Read all 1,103 poems by David Lester Young

Birthdays are not very enjoyable for this poet, as one looks back to those Camelot times of sweet sixteen. When JFK brought about, so much love out of America in Harmony. Where we were all joined together as this United States family.

The Circle, The Center, The Compass, The Spokes of HeArtMosphere must evolve and revolve around the world with words of Universal Understanding.

1963 Deep Well Sweet Sixteen Birthday Wishes

How things conflict
amid pre-War
past Young recollections
April 30, 1963
everything to-o look forward to
in youth’s teen,
Vietnam still Conflict
but body bags mount
coming home
Young Boy blows out
time felt candles
Camelot wish presence.

Twas the year
of “I Have A Dream,”
seeing Kennedy assassinated
Bard of Nottingham
devastated with
the rest of mourning America
The Circle of Time
The Center of Rhyme
The Compass
Bee conflicted
The Spokes
evolve to LBJ
and revolve to Beatle’s
awaiting 1964 fame.

How one year
can bring crew cut conformity
 to long hair -
changing things
Ban Elvis’s hips
Rock “n Roll Un-American
Civil Right battlegrounds
Integrated Military
sees black lives matter
taking on front lines casualties
As The Chosen
Upper Crass
White Masters seams
 stay Home Sweet Home.

America’s
“I Have A Dream” Government
“MAN”dated Selective Service
Where teens sign up
as eighteen, nineteen
pauper pawns
in War Chess games
Their lives would never again
be innocent Young
Camelot Knight dreamers
As MLK, RFK
joins JFK
a gist American bullet riddled
future assassinations.

The birthdays dew
keep coming;
fired
downsized
laid off
terminated -
present
Bee Time moving
seconds to minutes
to hours
month
years ~
clock wise terse
The Circle in Tallmadge
runs counter -
traffic to wind back -
lost dream memories
The Center seasons
Summer to Fall
to Winter
as Spring brings
New Year resolutions

Butt in the End
The Spokes keep
moving in arteries
‘n out veins –
Spoken word verse
Writing emotional roller coaster’s
high exhilarations.
‘n dire depression compositions
The Center UniVerse
sees The Circle universe
enCompass the world -
around US
The Spokes of American Dreams
dew cry every birthday
blowing out
last year’s despair.

April 30 1970
Cambodian birthday incursion
Kent State uprising
next to Tallmadge
April 30, 1975
End of the Vietnam War
28 year old Vietnam
War Veteran deposition
The birthdays now arrive
lost in rhyme
writing The Spokes
that must heal that Young
Sixteen year old Camelot
Nottingham Bard
but Alas the MLK
“I have A Dream”
Be for ever
then more
ever more
BEE vanquished
in gun riddled
time frame -
bullet holes.

RIP JFK, RFK, MLK

HeArtMosphere April 30th
Camelot Poet -
bids your Dream presence
adieu

They certainly were sweet and tumulus times. 1963 was my worst year, ever. 1968, my best. I lost so much in 1963, but pulled up my bootstraps and began a whole new life. Actually got to hear, in person, MLK speak in that hypnotic drone of his that got me thinking about joining him to the death if necessary.

"I may not be here to witness it, but there will be a promised land!"
