Seeded Thought

by David Lester Young — Read all 1,103 poems by David Lester Young

Sometimes a simple seed can bring on, live signs. If a poet implants a seeded thought, it may soon cease to be relevant, but it just might branch out to Poet Tree fruition.

Seeded Thought

Seed dormant staged
Be it awaiting life
Or be it hibernating still
Looking at it close
Be it living

Is an apple on a tree alive
living tissue bark branched
When it does fall
Does it cease to be
But what about the seed within

When put in fertile ground
With moisture around it
And it sprouts forth
When did live begin
Or was it just hibernating

So when does that seed die
When the last branch
becomes brittle
Or the roots cease to be

So if you put a seed in a jar
Is it alive after a thousand years
If not
When did the seed die

So if an impetuous poet
Implants a seeded thought
When will it cease to be
Or will it hibernate within
Until a readers last breath
Taketh its thought away
