The mainstream media, following long-standing journalistic rules that long ago defined yellow journalism and its ilk, has become repugnant to extreme backward conservative Republicans with their love for the highly altered view of American history that for so long reigned in our schools. George Washington could not tell a lie, etc.

Science marches on and new truths replacing old myths continued to happen in spite of the frustrated conservative elements. Since you mentioned JFK, a known lecherous cheater on his wife, whose indiscretion was never spoken of in the news, the Republicans have been buying up media in an attempt to steer it in the direction of the myth, the patriotic view of United States of America as the Savior of the world and World War II, but more interested in making the rich get richer by the ill-gotten concept of trickle-down wealth, fueled by wage slaves.

This is why so many like me, a libertarian who hates what other libertarians seem to be most interested in, extreme conservative views, are not a member of any party. Because the two main parties' platforms are diametrically opposite on many issues and stand firm. There seems to be little understand between conservatives and progressives. Liberal does give the connotation that there are no rules and anything goes. Something that wrenches the guts of dogmatic loving conservatives.

So, those of us in the middle, must vote for individuals who will break the stalemate between parties and do what is right, and what is true, so that we can solve the really huge problems of pollution, global warming, and forget about petty disputes over territory or wealth denied most. The recent pandemic shows how little ideology can do to stop what we are doing to our earth. It takes positive action, not foot dragging, to solve these immense problems, together.
