The Empty Womb

by David Lester Young — Read all 1,103 poems by David Lester Young

What are words not written down, but lost memories, lost to rhyme, wasting away - mid time grave evaporating refrains.

The Empty Womb

A lone an ~ empty room
The poet awaits ~ a lone
The heart breaks ~ quivers
Amiss silence ~ murmurs
Echo ring ~ on blank walls
Stares back ~ cold and bare
Shivers mid ~ fetal positions
I that must cry ~ eye to eye
Hearing ~ ear to ear tears
Time reigns ~ rhyme refrains
The hollow knot ~ naught not
Mid terse ~~~ not written verse.

There's nothing like solitary confinement to make one feel like the emptiness will never end.
