Oh Lonely Tear

by David Lester Young — Read all 1,103 poems by David Lester Young

An old poem that stared back at me today, being overloaded, overwhelmed, and downtrodden. I guess it was a sign to naught give up, there is daylight ahead.

Feel like a thousand Pied Pipers trampled all over me.

Oh Lonely Tear

Sometimes we have to be left to our own emotions coming free.

Oh lonely tear

How come you are a stranger to the others

As others flow so intensely

You just sit there alone in the world

Hidden away from the drying eyes

Being held together in a void

Not expressing yourself to the cheek of life

Oh lonely tear

Why do you not let go

Are you afraid that you may be followed

Into the light of true feelings being released

Into a waterfall that breaks down

The inner emotion held so tight

Oh lonely tear

We are alone now

For gravity has to come into play

Like the water running down the creek

You can now let it flow

And if it must overflow its banks

By the companionship of the

Damming of the raining emotions

Falling out in thundering passions

The calm will come to dry you out

And you will then have to wait

For your lonely tear to form again

In the jailed emotions that do not show

How really sensitive your tear is

To its inner exile

Sometimes, tears can be a release of our stress. To cry does not mean we are weak. To cry is to let go of the stress that has been building up inside us. We all are fighting a personal battle that only we know, and others don't know.
