While the higher ranking military are doing quite well, most veterans, especially disabled ones, are not. The capitalistic way of doing government means that the low hanging fruit will be taken care of first and the harder to do, like treating veterans with PTSD to give them a better life, the disabled and the poor for whatever reason, will be cut back or neglected. This is known as cost-saving, so that profits can be reaped and shared with wealthy stockholders and board members.
The imbalance in government has gradually turned back time to a more oppressive form of living in the United States. The only freedom remaining is the freedom to make money and have fewer and lower taxes. But the people that need help the most are those who don't make enough money to pay taxes. In the state of Texas, poor people pay sales tax on every basic need while the wealthy do not have to pay any income tax at all.
