To loving parents everywhere who slay their kid’s monsters and tuck them in with a kiss.

I wish I were a kid again
To dance in the gentle rain
Splashing my thoughts up with the winds
Flying Kites into blue skies with tails
As tall as telephone poles
Riding bicycles down dark trails
Ripe with imaginations to wander with
Slaying the monsters within your dreams
With magical swords of wood
I wish I were a kid again
To camp with the trees
Around the fires that spirits would seek
In the stories that would made my hide creep
To swim the oceans in a pond
That the Lockness monster was in
To grab the tail and swirl my way
Like a water slide
I wish I were a kid again
That my mother would hug my blanket
Into my dreams of fairy tales
Where the tooth fairy would give me
The candy that smiles came with
And in the tender kiss on a cheek
My world was protected for the night
I wish I were a kid again
To play a ball game
With my dad that would send the ball
Clear around the world and some
To catch my father love like a leather glove
And in all the pride that comes with an ole man
Coming young again
Yes
I wish I were a kid again
Thank you mom and dad
For the kid in me lives slaying his monsters
And still feeling tucked in
Playing the ballgame called life
