White roses on her wrist; no shoulder fabric to pin them on. Her daddy is upset but strapless is in style this Spring. Rose fragrance rivaling floral perfume dabbed behind each ear and sparingly in perky cleavage. No ponytail tonight, an upsweep and earrings of pink pearls to match the fuchsia chiffon gown.
She has always captured his admiration in blue jeans and t-shirts but tonight, she is a goddess who causes his heart to pound. He wants to pull the pins from her hair and watch it fall gracefully around the bareness of her shoulders. He yearns to kiss her full, pink lips more than once or twice.... and feel his arms around her slender waist.
He looks so different in his well-fitted tux with the bow tie and cummerbund in a shade that compliments her dress. So much like a real, elegant man that her breath catches in her throat and her eyes widen in appreciation. He’s tall and athletically lean and she falls into a sweet reverie of how it feels to stand on tip toe and put her arms around his neck.
She longs to feel the hunger of his lips as they seek out the softness of hers in a kiss different, more meaningful than the kisses they have shared before. Oh, he smells as good as he looks. Her whole body feels alive and warm and she wonders if tonight will be the beginning of a woman's love
Ah, the Prom!! Reckon we don't have anything quite like it this side of the Pond - at least not in MY day. This series of yours is stirring something quite unexpected and unknown within me, actually. An awakening of sorts. Can't quite understand why, having reached the ripe old age of 50 with quite a bit of water under the bridge. But maybe I was just born old... maybe I short-circuited, emotionally, all the journey from innocence through wonder and blossoming. Haven't a clue, really. All I know is that this rings bells within me... and not bells I can recognise, although I can fully remember WHAT it is you speak of... Does that make sense?? Probably not. Guess I'm just as corny as Kansas in August in that case...!! LOL Kansas Kate xx
Hi Belle,
You've taken me back a few years in memory in this well crafted imagery of this rite of passage with all the temptation and promise that only Prom and similar life milestones can bring.
Love,
Taylor
