Two Ole Gamblers Bettin On Love
By La Belle Rouge
Gamblers, that’s what we’ve been
winnin a few, losin more.
Wishin we hadn’t walked though
love’s every, easy, open door.
We’ve had a long history
that sweet, caramel man and me.
He was tall, dark
and delicious as a man could be.
I knew him way back when.
Thought I was in love with him then
guess I musta been
cause I still am....well damn!
I could deny it
but what for?
After all these years and absences
what remains between us is sure.
Others have had my love, but with him
I've come home from a long, tiring trip
His love is the kind a thirsty woman
would die for just to get one small sip.
Toward him all my thoughts run.
and with the setting of each golden sun
there’s just no more disguising
he has all my red passion risin.
He was a longtime lawman,
kept the peace all those years,
out in the wild territory
where life resembled a Louis L’Amour story,
and a badge was like a death wish,.
survival often hit and miss.
Now he just wishes to die in my arms.
A piece of my charms
is what he craves.
All I am, is what he gets these days.
That big gun, holstered with grateful sighs
safe and snug between my satin thighs.
We took our pleasure together more places
than a pirate’s imagination can sail.
On rocky shores, between satin sheets
on clouds of Heaven, at the gates of Hell.
In that field of white wildflowers
where he found me waitin for him,
the day I revealed my lastin love.
We made our bed in that meadow
nothin else mattered below or above.
All I could ever want was reflected
in the warm, dark chocolate of his eyes.
and all I need forever was spoken
in the sweet, sensitive surprise
of those words....
“My heart and soul are yours.”
Why did I once let myself slip away
from the one my spirit adores?
The scent of his dark hair was the same,
like sunshine;
the way I remembered it to be
and his lips tasted....desperate
just the way I wanted him... to want me.
Too many years of romantic fantasies
and not enough fleshly realities
makes a man or woman
live cold and desperate.
Until that touch of true desire
burns flesh and soul with hot wildfire
there can be no relief or respite.
So here we are....two ole gamblers
bettin on each other again.
And all the gold in California
can’t compare to the riches of “Him”.
Two miners smitten with treasure lust.
Nothing is as priceless in the past
as the gold we’ve unearthed at last
in the fertile field of “Us”.
Hello La Belle Rouge...it's me, Capri, here. I love-oved your poem. You sure do know how to tell a good story and then pen it to a spectacular poem. Wow! Also, I want to tell you the audio didn't go off until I finished reading your poem and clicked to comment. I'll be looking forward to reading your works here. P.S. I love your book! I go by MoNi Harrell here. I'll be around. Hugs, MoNi xo

Almost sounds country to me, too many fantasies and not enough realities. Loved it.

Some doors are indeed easy to open, yet the door you would adore to open seems forever engaged..
Two coal miners? Yikes...
Too many years of romantic fantasies
and not enough fleshly realities
makes a man or woman
live cold and desperate.
Until that touch of true desire
burns flesh and soul with hot wildfire
there can be no relief or respite. <------I know that feeling as I looked in to a lake a me me me, then thought what! an Ass..lol
Folk! please read between the lines of this poem, because redhead are telling you that in love "there are time to bet going all in or to be true and fold, to bluff a little with empty sleeves but never cheat."

bettin on each other again.
Life and Love are always a gamble, sometimes we win, and sometimes we lose - but it's one gamble surely worth takin. And another of my favorite songs!
