He Handed Me His Heart Like A Red Rose

Poem Artwork

Forever Rose
By La Belle Rouge

He was the kind of man a woman can’t forget.
Strong, honest, manly in every way.
Yet tender as a sigh, sweet as caramel candy.
Oh such candy, tempting, seductive.
His taste, seduced my mind
captured my heart, entered my soul,
so easily, so gently, so completely.
He sang to me a song only we could hear
and matured my desire like an awkward girl
becoming a full grown, fertile woman.

He handed me his heart, like a red rose.
As though he had picked it from his garden
and wanted me to have it when I passed by.
Because he liked the way my hips swayed
my mind thought, and my heart loved.
A rose that hasn’t died, though unfed,
without sunshine and rain’s nourishment.
So I passed by again, to fertilize his rose
rain on him the beauty of my devotion
light his mornings with the sun my kisses.

And now he hands me his promise
as natural as breath or blooming!
Grown to its zenith, rooted in truth.
The fragrance of such a robust rose
infusing my senses, scenting my days
filling my nights, with the beauty of love.
This time I enfold it deep within my soul
and cherish the perfection of its petals.
This time I hand him my heart, a red rose.
Because I like every part of who he is
and the way our roses still entwine.
