Beyond Flesh

with you it was never just flesh
though with only one touch
in the flesh
we would set afire the elements
with the carnal expression of our love


with you it was about the deepest
admiration and attraction I’d ever felt
for any man
with you it was pure poetry and passion
words, wisdom, and wanting sublime


with you it was the collapse of walls
and explosion of all the barriers
oh, My Love
together we have always been magic
separate we were always less than more


with you it was dancing tender sambas
and torrid tangos of long pent up lust
no not flesh
it was deeper than flesh, more molten
than mere passion of physical touch


with you it was a meeting of minds
a merging of spirits in the void
where time ceases
and the carpet of eternity spreads out
in all directions beneath our feet


forever tangled in a sacred web
drawing us together seamlessly
since “hello”
i knew it was only a reawakening
a purloined homecoming at last


with you it was those Spanish eyes
those words of love and tender sighs
with you
it was more than with any other man
the unfolding of love’s priceless plan
