seductive crystal ice they were....
pale like the jeweler’s jade locket
i yearned for but couldn’t afford
mirrored orbs alternating fire and ice
twin planets revolving slowly around pain
a universe i wanted...needed to explore
brave, foolish conquerors beware new frontiers
and dangerous spoils you crave to claim
some treasures are ill afforded
i drowned in the sea depths of his pain
clutching his hand, straining to pull him out
his fire burned away the best of my soul
and forever i will lie a twisted, frozen fossil
buried in the bowels of his bottomless cave
an ice queen without a crown or a prayer
To reach for -- love -- only to discover that there is none, but lacking the strength to find love's ray of light - being committed to that 'one'. There is much sadness and despair in this poem. Yet, it causes me to contemplate - change.
Stunning and a captivating way to grab you subject and raise her to the lovely status of immortality. Well done La Belle but that comes as no surprize whenever I read one of your lovely poems.
