In A Blaze Of Glory

He leaned out the open hotel window
Threw his smoking cigar out on the tin roof
His hair ratty, five o’clock shadow
Dirty and unshaven, sexy as hell
Sweat glistened on chiseled muscles
of a hard, proud chest and ran down
the dark love line that disappeared
beneath the partially unbuttoned fly
of his tight, low rider jeans

I’m a woman who knows what she wants
and everything in me said I wanted... him
Oh I knew he’d been up in that hotel room
all night with some low-life floozy
but I couldn’t seem to give a good damn
what he’d done or how many mares he’d broke
Long as that cowboy with the steel eyes
and rope-hard hands ended up in my saddle

A floozy I am not, a real woman
who loves men I brazenly have been
since first I realized our differences
and how we fit together so perfectly
He was looking at me, as I looked at him
A smoldering gaze that teased my senses
and assured me without any doubt at all
he would be in my bed before midnight

So I opened my parasol, covered my face
my flushed face and wildly shinning eyes
My flesh burned for the company of his lips
but I would not give him the satisfaction
of knowing he had affected me that way
I know he knew, that our eyes agreed
we'd both be going out in a blaze of glory
but I left him with a question to ponder
Would he be my predator, or my prey
and would it be my bed or his?
