What shall I softly whisper to thee
That might melt frigid Winter’s snow?
Could I but cause blinded eyes see
Without spoken word thou should know
The love I bear within this heart
Is neither feigned nor false at all
But where could I ever think to start
To make it felt with words so small
With trembling hands I offer now
Fair rose of crimson velvet petals
With fervent hope it be seen how
‘Tis more priceless than precious metals
Oh do not refuse the gift I bring
Sweet endowment of eternal Spring
If I could but touch within thy soul
A place none other has ever before
A blazing fire to end season of cold
Recover key to unlock bolted door
If only our lips could meet at last
In a kiss that doth span the ages
No need then for more poetic repast
Penned upon memories and pages
Of roses and hearts I write to thee
Presenting both without pretext or price
With hope thou wilt only harken to me
Fear slain with sword of truth’s slice
I could but find adoration’s perfect way
To cause your love to be mine this day
I had impressions of removing my armour and passing over the reins of my horse to my page as I swept the lady in distress into my arms to succor and protect not to mention ravish. Very nicely done Belle.
