The Halloween Ball was a success. Thanks to all who read our horror and humorous Halloween poems and all who attended the ball. Now it's time for more gentle and beautiful thoughts.

Always Here
By La Belle Rouge

there was never enough joy
to outweigh the heavy sorrow
nor smiles to dry the tears

but then there comes a time
when tears cease to fall
having been futile in the past

we understand this, don’t we?
you and I know about tears
and time…. how it stretches out
like a desolate highway to nowhere

yet we walk until our feet blister
and our hearts begin to fail
on a long journey we tire of

if there is a thing called forgiveness
there is no forgetfulness
except in dreams or death

if your heart is hard and cold
let it not be so toward me
mine is supple and warm toward you

I could not be where you were
when you were alone and cold
when you still had hope

but I am here now, far but near
always here, always here

when you muse on the myth of love
as melancholy poets often do
then you swear it’s only an illusion

think of me, remember me
flesh and blood a nuance of love

far but near, always here
forever here

"far but near, always here
forever here"

It feels like such a warm and tender embrace. To know this kind of love is to know the essence of LOVE!

God bless you. Kathy

You have set out the path of this loving relationship and have travelled its course, Belle, taking us with you. You make me appreciate that time DOES indeed change all things, though imperceptibly, step by step, for lovers who, for whatever reason, are unable to keep in step together as the months or years progress. Distance is, as you intimate, a matter of perspective, rather than relational between unveiled hearts. And there is always the hope that the route might take you full-circle at last. Lucid and sincere, the vulnerability and self-giving here is melting. Beautiful echoes of here and near throughout, reinforcing the loving message. Belle at her best! :)) xx

With this most beautiful heartfelt poem, that exudes love, sweetness,
and many tears of wisdom, you will always be here, I won't forget it that is for sure, you are a true light of love, and certainly dipped your pen in it deeply, thank you, thank, you, and to Georg, who made me aware of my neglect of reading you, God bless you and keep you!

Yes, LaBelle, we do weigh on our life balances what brings joy and happiness against the pain and loss, and after that we try and move on even when the balance has dipped the way we didn't want. Gentle, sage musings beautifully expressed and with an elegant resignation to the inevitable.
