Your Kiss
By La Belle Rouge

your kiss…

the kiss you gifted to my lips
moist with the promise of more
that kiss, the one I reminisce about
in seasons bereft of summer sun
when bitter winds of loneliness howl
and dismal, impenetrable clouds
envelop hope with melancholy
on restless horizon of my thoughts

that time, sweet brief moment
when love was all I needed to live
generous kisses covered fingers
soliciting only my love in return
conferring as much as I bestowed

that kiss, none like it before or since
a turmoil of need… a torrent of rain
that opened my soul to the possibilities
of “what if” and “why not” beyond
prison of “never” and desert of “none”

that kiss of fire that melted morality
and carried me far away from rationale
of why kisses could not… should not, be
the sweetness of a mouth that spoke
no careless whispers nor devious deceit
oh to taste again your essence on my tongue
a feast to gratify my ravenous hunger
rain in a wasteland… sun to banish winter

your kiss….

"...kiss of fire that melted morality..." how long it has been? Will we could ever remember it? Yes, that kiss...if only we were the ones getting it, just once...

Such a melancholy usage of words in this poem that it gives one the feeling of abandonment and wistful waiting. The sensuousness of your grouping of words are, again, enough to raise the temperature by merely reading, because you cannot read this poem without making it come alive in your thoughts . . . And yes, referring to what you said earlier, I think I could do with a little spanking Haha!!

I love this, Belle. I can so totally relate to what you express in this poem. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and best wishes,
