Ladies poem

When we were married, way back in the past
We promised each other, our love it would last
I was your knight, in bold armour shining
You were my bride, in gold silken lining

But as years went past, hurtful things were said
And it broke my heart, when you left my bed
I told you to go, but you could have stayed
Now my tainted armour was becoming frayed

We got our divorce, and you met someone new
And I tried in my heart, to be happy for you
But I still had strong feelings, of that I confess
Now my colourless armour, was becoming a mess

I couldn't forget you, so I turned to the drink
It lessened my tears, when of you I did think
And now my armour, well its looking so poor
An old rusted heap, on a beer littered floor

But I picked myself up, and I turned it around
And now for myself, a new love i've found
So we polished together, with all of our might
Now my old rusty armour, is shining so bright
