I can feel it beating
It echoes in my ears
Yet it’s so far away
And it’s been that way for years
For centuries it has sung
A faint melody in a distant land
As if patiently waiting
For me to finally understand
At times it resounds
Like the waves upon a shore
Pounding so violently
That it shakes me to my core
And then it’s a peacefully lullaby
That rocks me to sleep at night
Filling my weary soul
With a contented delight
The two drums beat together
With a rhythm all their own
Overtaking my emotions
As our love was planted and grown
Soon a voice is added
And then I start to yearn
The drumming grows even louder
Creating an aching desire to burn
The voice is so familiar
I react to its soothing tone
Drawing me in like a magnet
Making me realize that I’m not alone
There’s an invisible cord
Between you and I
That can never be dissevered
A love that will never die
It was our hearts that brought us together
For they truly beat as one
We will hear their song long after
This world we live in is gone
