An old fashioned young romance…

The dying sun spilled blood in the river. A boy and girl stood under the gaslight. Above the water the pink sky was bright And a playful breeze made the girl shiver. Face to face on the bank of the river, Foreheads touching underneath the gaslight, The girl hoped for her young love's first delight… The boy was unsure, began to dither. A moment passes never to return. The sky darkened and the gaslight was lit, The girl sighed… and in silence the boy stood. Their hands touched… the boy remained taciturn… At last the girl knew it was time to quit… The moment passed… and the girl understood… © P. J. Oszmann (2006) © Illustration created in Photoshop. What a silly boy! Nicely done, Peter. I appreciate the attention to structure. I think that it should read "a moment passed" in the first verse of the second stanza since the rest of the poem is in the past tense. Thank you for sharing. Love and peace to you,
