A fine suit

of blood and sweat

to hell and back

and overseas

seen the world

in mud dirt and rain

from treetop cradle

and foreign fox holes

the big picture he has seen

nothing fazes him

Veteran

of the earth

firm bed clean linens

shelter heat indoor plumbing

the basic needs

he did treasure

what we all take

for granted
