She liked a boy; even her eyes were giddy as they danced
like snowflakes of winters first storm.
My heart may have fluttered while I watched my daughter grow
as if the most exclusive sunshine charged her glow.
She never cared before what others thought
content in the way she played her part.
Now, she was miss priss as she prepared
Hesitantly, my compliments shared.
Now dancing and casting her puppy love spell
like the wind guides the lightning into its next lair
Her smile brighter than a reflection of sea
I shuddered and thought it could never be.
Now days beyond and behind us now
She makes me this most solemn vow
To trust me more because parents know
How love comes and how loves go.
