Fairies in the Heart
There are fairies in the woodland and music in the breeze
Scents and sights to tempt your feet to dance even as they please
You so truly that death at this moment seems a happy price to pay.
Look up and see the brilliant blue sky frame this perfect day.
Look up at the sky and spin and twirl as a sweet young girl
Would float and jump and skip and join the current as it whirls.
Forget that you are who you are and see who you want to be
For just this moment in time, be young and set your nature free.
Listen, listen, carefully, do you hear? Bubbling and trickling
As it travels past you take your fill to drink and enjoy it tickling
Your senses as it rushes cool by in a hurry to who knows where
Hurry, as if with such speed it will be gone, like it was never there.
Make a crown of flowers and be the princess fair, and hold court.
The squirrels and the rabbits and ladybugs and deer play your consort.
Pick a worthy staff from the forest floor to mark your importance
And worry not at all that you have no suitable show prince.
You are what you dream and you are what you are and so
Bring the woodland with you when you leave and remember to go.
For it is more possible to carry that hour inside your heart
Than to duck the real world and try to remain separate and apart.
