This is somebody's dad
O' how sad.
This is somebody's friend
O' what a sin.
This is somebody's mom
Sound the alarm.
They've come back,
But, will they ever come home again.
Don't forget the children.
As we prayfully weep.
Unsolicited sorrow.
Scars burned so deep.
A song of war I sing about.
My heart is breaking.
They've come back,
But, will they ever come home again.
Look what they've done.
Look what we've done.
A song of war I sing about.
My soul is aching.
I wrote this tribute to my secretary, Lori Sanders, and others in her army reserve unit, who were about to go off to fight during the Persian Gulf War; it is also timely in light of the current war in Iraq
