Better left unsaid.

How can we, you and me

say “I love you”

when the words do

no more than hurt?

How can we, you and me

say “I miss you”

when the years between

will never shorten,

nor the distance between

never lessen.

“Friends,” we say,

“Lets be friends.”

Yes, true , we are

friends, you and me.

But try as we may

the words, “I love you,”

the words, “I miss you,”

albeit now unsaid,

sit within our hearts and

play within our minds

and though we struggle

not to say:

“I love you!”

Not to say:

“I miss you!”

The love we feel,

the longing we feel

surpasses friendship,

but true , the words

do no more than hurt.

So, my dear friend,

though better left unsaid,

let me say....

I love you!
