Let Love Lie

Reading musty letters from

years long gone,

my heart fills with sadness

for though we’d both agreed

those many years ago

though we’d both agreed

it best to stop conversation,

that did little more than

add to our loneliness

for each the other,

I so want to know she is well,

I so want to speak of love

for me that has never died,

I so want my lady to speak

If still alive,

I so want my lady to speak

of love ,

of my lady’s love for me that has not yet died..

Still...

still I know it best,

best

to just let love lie,

...and one day

maybe

...one day to die.
