Me Me Me Flavors

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

There are so many means of toxic contamination today. This is but one.

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Me Me Me Flavors

Beware of blinding light
Bigger
Louder
In your face light
Such becomes fractals of fear

Me Me Me fantasists
Rush to be enticed by
A mall's giant facilities
Larger portions
Shimmering seductions
Melding senses into blurs
As dreamers grab sustenance
Where synchronized musical fountains
Make food court dining an art

But like the Hopper Nighthawk diner
Such a menu does little to feed
Insatiable appetites of loneliness
Ravenous wanderers remain famished
Reduced to stuporous gaze

Accompanying the installation

Ceiling speakers amidst persuasive colored clouds
Deliver psycho-form-fitting-consumption-hymns
Permeating what little consciousness roams below
Imbuing glutinous egos with chameleon emptiness

Anxious to advance
A rookie crew of adolescent adults
Engulfed in perfumed cosmetic counter ambiance
Stare at their mirrored images
Applying frosted lip gloss identification
This week's Me Me Me flavor
Rookie Hopper-hopefuls of tomorrow
Tasting the next step of
Luminary isolation
Fear's matrix

Only in your dreams?

Doubtful

yes...ingestation the 'flavors' of a toxic contaminated 'atmosphere' can weigh heavily on the spirit.

the glamour, shock 'n' awe of the
burger joint..desperation to sell
by titillation but, for me, Hopper's
diner will always say more, the ravenous soul
that can't be fed or fooled

I agree with Jerry more in size less in actual flavor, i tend to stick to my own grill as much as I can.

Oh yeah, you are pretty much on track here, Odin. There was a time, many years ago when my constitution was more readily able to put almost anything into it and digest it. But even so, there came a time when the restaurants were getting so damn obscene with their portions; where a simple cheeseburger covered a whole dinner plate and had things between the two gigantic buns that I wasn't even sure what was there. So even before I had to I began to back away from the GIANT meals they were beginning to serve.
