Life's IT

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

There are some of us capable of seeing and some of perceiving. What is IT that discerns even behind closed eyelids?

Life's IT

At times
Like the aimless tail of a New Year's streamer
at times, life's unwinding seems without purpose

IT

Starts in a playground
of mud pies
of empty miniature plastic cups
inviting neighbors and pets alike
for morning tea
and maybe
the throw of a dirt ball for play

By noon of IT's awakening
playgrounds have become gardens
where momentum tills new soil
colorful seeds find slumber
awaiting promised blooming

Once sundown rests on the horizon anticipating sleep's darkness
IT gazes upon toiled labor now dust
the swirls of the ringlet funnel reaching skyward
carrying lilac fragments now brown as coffee grounds
to distant playgrounds
of laughter's reprise
to gardens
of labor's renewal

Nights of reflection

Life's clock

The forever-winding of infinite beginnings

Yes, especially behind closed eyelids. In the middle, "where momentum tills new soil" brings forward in my mind, the tenacity and frontier-brandishing of people in their late 20's, early 30's. Best of all is that image I get of the 'ringlet funnel' ascending with both a waning fragrance (lilac, the scent) and a flower petal that has lost color and (extending that dissolution) become transparent. So much imagery and connotation in this. ~~ Diana

...see to me IT most likely stands for Infinite Teleology... there is a purposeful movement from beginnings to beginnings in a world without end where progression is abetted by digression and even enhanced by reflective regression as it aims and advances towards egression in a creative evolution of creation whose essence is the advancement of life as we are only beginning to know IT! Thanks for a provocative, suggestive and insightful piece of poetry. Thought-provoking and illuminating, as usual, Odin.

Odin, I have had to come back to read this many times because I wanted to fully understand it. I read it backwards and that worked too, which I found really cool. A forthright yet kindly worded scenario of life's stage!

All things in this life have a begining and an end this contiuum is not negotiable unfortunately.

Life in a nutshell. Why am I thinking that IT is an acronym for Internet technology? Must be the geek in me. ;-)

Eh, the continuous flow life's clock is forever on the move toward final peace and futility. IT is a non sequitur by its nature and depth, which, like fireworks shoot off in many different directions as though planned that way, still IT deserves the non sequitur title. As to the eventual trail and path of one individual there must be two parallels which oppose the other, i.e., programed from birth, or a wild child to the bitter, cremated end.
