Entreatment

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Some days are full of more questions than can be answered. Then there are some answers that no amount of time can deliver. Some would argue that many are the eternal unanswerables we just have to accept as IS. But which ones?

What

of this umbrella called night

this cloak of mystery

so right in its wrong

a masquerade of demonic joy for some

while readying tomorrow's blossoms for others

this inevitable rejoicing in the peaceful blood letting of your countenance

Why

is the depth of our eyes

reflected in your infinity

the glitter of mammalian mirrors

so bright below the liquid cobalt of your nocturnal shroud

How

while enclosed in your comforting embrace

your warmth of cocoon

your breath of moonlit honeysuckle

does so much evil manage to manifest

While

Others knead tomorrow's sustenance

and glimpse through windowed clarity

your crescent bangle

dancing slowly across the sky

before committing the harmony of freshly baked efforts

into vessels of sunlit deliverance

Tell us

about this choice

of shattering daylight

against the calm of night

this essential dawn

of our nourishment

suddenly awakened after sufficient respite

beneath your protective cloak

this enabling layered color of thought

bestowing clarity to the yet discovered

the yet to be embraced

the yet of the next epiphany

the Answers without questions

I really like this, Odin. The juxtaposition of demonic joy to readying tomorrow's blossoms is like reading the colors black on red. Striking. The "How" stanza sets the reader up for a cozy tuck into bed, before Truman Capote comes in. But before all ill prevails, we are given vessels of sunlit deliverance. Shattering daylight against the calm of night deftly portends switching places, bright day and shroud of mysterious night, but I see instead the crafty constance of night's protective cloak, cultivating ponderance, and day's sudden awakening. Enjoyed this. ~~ Diana

beautiful and it seems the nights provide deeper analysis within you.

We, like everything on the earth, evolved with the cycle of night and day. This got me thinking if creatures in the sea sleep. And if they do, why don't they drown?

See, questions began new questions and so it is.
