Recalling abstracts of a father’s love sometimes defy "ends" as a given. Forever ethereal, images of trucks, equipment, earth movers, all remain a part of a father’s toil, and a child’s gratitude.

Diesel Rainbows

How colorful the reflective smears ignite the senses
how sinuous the rippled slick forever remembered

Dank syrup of engines idle
spilled upon aged concrete
mechanics beneath rusted warriors
draining yesterday's tensile stress
loading tomorrow's fluid to live

How focused his oily footprints remain
now aloft riding the escort of Valhalla
gliding upon colors of other-world arches
remaining forever heroic
forever indelible

Memory's ever present ether embraces
even as buried vestiges remain dark
bestowing courage for his child's will to endure

Revered
Esteemed
Forever painted with love

My father was also in the contruction 'trade' mostly as a designer and builder of bridges in my youth. I remember him somewhat differently, a "Get away from that wheel barrow. You don't know nothin' about machinery" kind of legacy. Nice job and thanks.
