Some might say this coming day an inopportune time to suggest Apocalyptic times ahead, but others might wish to ponder the mothering responsibility of the future. (Image fineartamerica)

Fugetaboutit
by Odin Roark
Nature didn’t want the last word
And the insistence of existence
Wasn’t trying to be funny
Nevertheless…
Habits of greed made
Wars
Illness
And famine
Time’s default grandchildren
Nescient ghosts ultimately prevailed
Sitting like blind families
Watching a silent movie
Generations of children
Chopped weeds and their hearts
Into the same garbage-lid stir-fry
Protection’s cover was found beside vermin fur
As plutocracy’s vultures groomed their talons
Knowing what was left of body and soul
Cowered beneath rocks
Chewing on the same piece of root
Amidst desperate prayers
To miscellaneous designer gods
Thunderous replies from on high chorused
“Furgetaboutit
Goin’ fishin’”
Sandie
Wars
Illness
And famine
Time’s default grandchildren
And I sadly don't see it getting any better, only worse. Not a very good Mother's Day for Mother Nature.
