Nature’s Romance

The ever dependable day
projects its attractive and always poised personality
providing truth for its flirtatious confidence.

So often we fail to appreciate
how playfully it beguiles us,
filling our work days with light,
often sharing gentle afternoon showers
or slowly draping its warmth across a horizon,
gently contrasting our twilight with shadows stretching
slowly for meditative walks,
or simply a peaceful entry into the magic hour.

Late day enjoys teasing our senses,
Spring’s orange blossom fragrance fills the air,
Summer’s fresh cut grass brings melancholy pause,
Fall’s burning leaves awakens anticipation,
Winter’s familiar pine and snow cover but a breath away.

As darkness approaches…

Night welcomes day’s weary exhaustion,
knowing its companion and partner
has made it through another cycle of serving,
ready to cradle its trust
in the yoke of moon’s fidelity,
recharging its resolve to serve another cycle
once the sun makes its rounds with the rest of the world.

Tomorrow…

Both the day and latent night
will rise with the star of day,
its embrace of yellow, red and purple hue
escorting light down a rainbow staircase
to once again remind earth how perfect existence is.

Day romancing night…

Nature’s relationship of perfection.
