With this country’s gun culture acting like a bunch of Rambo wannabes following the San Bernardino tragedy-- thoughts and prayers notwithstanding for those inclined--this weeks greater moment of silence is being carried forth with the lack of consciousness by the dumb struck House. Led by a gym-jock trying to look with-it by growing a beard (ain’t that cute?), his, and the other representatives of the “no” vote ignoring duty to self and humanity is plenty enough for a conscience wake-up-call to remove themselves from office. But, unfortunately, that would be too much like what a human being would do.

Horizons Of Time Remembered
by Odin Roark
Horizons of tenuous time
linger amidst the stench and flames
of battles lost,
still allowing space for those yet to be forged.
How colorless the smoke,
the airless smothering of what once was,
where residue of billowing dust
and wilting spirits now smolder as memory.
Echoing forward from history’s porous walls
the inner self remains infected with crustaceous evil
waiting to catch the waiting flame.. again.
Horizons of time remembered
continues to ask we reckon with nature's insistence,
hearken to light,
sound,
sight,
touch,
taste
and mind.
But…
Such horizons are quickly vanishing from consciousness,
ignorance and greed prevailing,
and just as the fragrance of a roadside flower
has lost its essence once again,
all of nature knows that until honor’s integrity,
has trampled the weeds of hate and greed,
and surges forth to support purveyors of truth,
all of yesterday’s time remembered,
history’s lessons once easily accessible,
may be eternally forgotten.
He is a homey of mine with a small-town mindset that I'm very familiar with. That's why I left there at an early age. Couldn't stand the bigotry and ignorance that prevailed. The owner of the company that I worked for at sub minimum wage was convinced that the Triumvirate and the illuminati were upon us and was a big wheel in the John Birch Society. And it continues…
