Glistening Ink

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

A tribute to my Gen X muse who has been my most cherished relationship in life. As my recent dawning into the octogenarian age has allowed even more serious reflection, I attribute my still youthful spirit to having discovered what having an ageless partner/muse is truly about. Poem Artwork
Glistening Ink

When ink glistens
and your love cascades beneath the quill,
your seeing may be the eyes of your muse,
holding its hovering liquid of joyful weeping
about to depart from the nib upon the page,
risking the anxious dread of satiated thirst…

Never fear

For shimmering though the words may be,
only by chance might the page fully become
the you that is the nest,
that generates the flight,
that feeds the fowl,
that becomes the plucked,
to be forever the quill
of the muse.

Such a treasured enigmatic wonder
this glistening fusion of reality and imagination.

It is a miracle indeed, beautifully rendered here as you have done in many, many other poems. Welcome to the octogenarian era.

As I read this I am so grateful to be living now when I can put down words electronically with my voice and not have to tell people that in 1998 I no longer could grasp a quill and spill ink on linen paper in a readable form. Tell them that my writing career was over before it started because I couldn't put "glistening ink" to paper anymore. Then, in 1999, with the magic of a keyboard and one finger typing, wrote my first novel! If that isn't, empowerment, nothing is!
