Majority-Fed Snake Oil

Like a giant gel capsule fantasized small,
many open their mouths with Yes! Yes! Yes!
ingest such remedies,
and assume no side effects.

Such bombastic deception
these elusive hollow cures
served habitually for addiction,
are made ever-pleasant to the senses,
increasingly seductive to the taste of many.

Initially downed easily by the ill-informed.
Colorful duplicity spoken,
written,
pronounced,
and absorbed
sans fact checks.

Emotionally unfit…

Oblivious of Majority’s poison,
an ignorant mass gladly awaits the next dose,
unaware its insidious curse
churning its brew
in shadowed concealment,
conspires to rot the I of we,
even as fear blithely chases blindly
with another gulp of anger.

“We are for the people”
bellows forth yet more bombastic snake oil remedies
from that laboratory of government with nothing to their credit in 10 months.

Of course, we are expected to swallow their delusions as our own.

For some us, such balderdash is beyond our acceptance,
especially the totalitarian innocent-looking gulp they offer.
