Forgiveness

Unspoken words wander about
seeking moments,
places,
where the unforgiven past
remains in limbo.

How heavy this burden of weight.

Such fog-laden conscience
hesitates to leave its rocky shores,
its tempest skies and voiceless anger,
where continued silence
gives but delayed resolve,
like the eye of one’s storm
forever stalled as fearful threat.

To cross the Rubicon,
to nail one’s colors to the mast,
and reconcile past mistakes,
such is not for the meek.

How might it be,
this point in time
when fear is reduced to admittance
the ravages of guilt
finding solace in merely offering forgiveness?
