Nature's Linchpin

For those who believe existence is perpetual, merely changing its form from time to time. (Painting by Wojtek Siudmak)

Nature’s Linchpin

We move helplessly forward to
Time's ultimate rewinding,
perpetuity being fed
to nourish Time's daily dying.

Like the Local butcher
receiving deliveries of
chain-linked corpses,
all made-cold-for-aging,
swinging stridently along
like our own masses of degradable tissue,
many hang powerlessly attached to faith-hung rails.

Just as the clock for shopping's rush hour
urges the butcher to cleaver his offerings,
so too the ticking of our own destiny
hastens hood and scythe for one last supper.

Atop Creation’s block
straddles fate’s blade upon blade,
awaiting the careful severing of
anticipation, sans hurrah.

For the Now is continually arriving.

Existence is but package-wrapped fragments
awaiting the ultimate cosmic ingestion,
dharma’s promise made ready.

How long must we endure dreaded death,

knowing it could be an embracing event,
rather than a fearsome end,

that it is but Nature’s linchpin being pulled

in order to construct another existence.

I especially enjoyed the last stanza. I believe, just as an infant cries in pain to come into this life, that we will feel a new happening pain as we continue on. 'Love your words a LOT!

Love ya!

Last evening I saw a 60 minutes with a National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore who is photographing species and believes that he is "halfway through creating a Photo Ark," (surely not insects). I have also seen his fantastic work in National Geographic with each animal/bird/reptile/insect set against a dark background and very interesting and intriguing poses. He is archiving species because the predictions are that half of today's species will be extinct by the end of the century.

His collages are revealing. I saw briefly four: the parrot family, the pig family, the monkey family, and the butterfly family. The similarities/differences between species indicate an immense diversity that is both pictorially striking and an affirmation that evolution created all these creatures of beauty and uniqueness.

We all have to die in order for the new to take hold. We certainly should embrace death as a normal part of life that will go on with or without us.

It seems that reincarnation reconfirms its name every time the day is reborn, although with the rest of nature, especially, the birth of spring out of the death of winter.

I am a true-blue believer in reincarnation. That is where I stand.
