Mind-Draught

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

To acquire a personal meditative position, perhaps one of Man’s most absent means of becoming more adept at fathoming the unfathomable, one must put more credence in the inquiry, finding out that there is less to learn, than to remember. (Image by Gesicht Wieder)

Mind-Draught

Beginning of such languid calm,
Becomes a trickle of moisture,
A teardrop unexpected,
Denied by the hand of darkness.

Still…

Being but human,
Even as evolution grants porous absorption,
Capacity reaches maximum.

Where does such overflow go?

Beneath the surface it lurks,
Gathering momentum,
Rising up without restraint,
An innocent emotion of nature disrupted,
Knowing not the distant shores it might need,
The life it might cling to,
Influence and consume.

And on it goes,
Innocent of hope,
Conditioned faith,
Unexpected fear of failure.

So human we are,
Bent on compartmentalizing,
Ill-equipped to understand
The amorphous origins of weeping,
The nature of its needs,
The compassion inherent with its lessons.

Somewhere in the cosmos,
Ideas of moisture-release evolved,
Presenting Man with tears,
Rain,
Streams,
Rivers,
Oceans.

Our world
Of cumulus billow,
Of swollen tear ducts,
Where all weeping knows one another,
Embracing its joy,
Its tragedy,
Its destiny,
Nature’s teaching.

A drop,
A tsunami,
All as one,
The Universe’s irreversible harmony.

Yet…

We continue this cosmic illiteracy
Wallowing in a dearth of smugness
Unaware of our mind-drought patiently waiting.

Somehow, I don't connect a drought of the mind with the welling up of tears. That minds are in a drought is obvious with the current administration elected by those with dried up consciousness and ability to analyze.

On the other hand. When emotions, either positive or negative, reach a threshold in the mind, tears can't help but come, sometimes, in a flood of emotion.

Perhaps it's the onslaught of an epidemic, a widespread, unabridged insight into what life in our world is becoming, the mind's rivers and oceans clamouring for a new way to flow.
...well, mine certainly are anyway.

Odin! I have been going through this very thing. I don't want "A drop,
A tsunami,"
to happen. I'm a big wave right now. Thank you for your insight. I needed this!

Love ya!

Jane
