History's Footprints

Hopefully, the world will continue to stay aware and manifest action where words of the past fell on far too many deaf ears. (Image by Reuters)

Poem Artwork

History’s Footprints

So many pounding the surface

Through the inequality barons of wealth chose

Through past desperate bare feet surviving

Comes the birth of children now becoming more than aware

Their soles willing to become callused leather

Even as some of hand-me-down sneakers

Others of wingtip success monikers

Collectively challenge the generational suffering

For all those bearing the scars of

Footprints rising

And falling

Yet…

Today

Tomorrow

We are witnessing footprints rising

Black

Brown

Yellow

White

Collectively coming down hard

Their resonance vibrating around the world

Equality hovering faithfully

Steadfast in its resolve

At last.

(Hopefully)

Now if we only had a leader to help guide this nation and bring us together instead of dividing us.

At last, indeed. It has been a long time in coming. May the wave continue to surge, may the foot continue to rumble, may the voices continue to rumble and rage over what should not be.
