For many, the calm of aloneness can become the anguish of loneliness. (Image by photoshop)

Poem Artwork

Friendship in Waiting

Where comes this sudden draft

This air of warmth in search of…

Could a door have opened

Somewhere hidden from the daily chaos

Setting free a seeking connection?

Might a breath

Inhale this mystery

Risking a leap over the threshold

Reaching with a faint smile

For optimistic trust?

Perhaps…

On this day without a date

Floating amongst the heavy air of despair

But for the blues trumpet

Forges history’s past with today’s tomorrow

Permeating one’s aura with inflight of breath

The breeze rustling leaves

The mantra of heaving sleep

Summoning reception of a friend

Are we not but flowering in cyclic bloom

Awaiting destiny?

A bit esoteric, but as I struggled to understand I caught glimpses of what it means be hopeful that someone is coming to greet or more. Otherwise, why bother to open the door.

Having experienced long periods alone, it is wonderful to know that about 5:30 every evening the front door will open and she will call out to me… "I'm home!"

Funny how a person can be in a room full of people yet feel so alone! At least the "draft" mentioned above is a "warm" one and not cold. Perhaps that is a preview of better days to come, Odin!! 'Love this!

Love ya!

Indeed, there is a fine line drawn between loneliness and aloneness. It seems that aloneness is there expecting a friend, loneliness is there knowing no friend will come. Thought-provoking poem.
