Poem Artwork

Mail In Hope

Standing before the mailbox

My hands remain sweaty

My mouth feels coated with sand

Eyes tear

Ears but for the wind…

Hear a meow

My glance away reveals

A black cat

Its paw raised

As if in feline salute

Voting feels like a weapon

Encouragement seems contagious

I drop my ballot in the slot

Salute back

And give the bird to the guy trying to intimidate

Oh yea. Great idea. Drop Box. I just found one. A couple of friend and I are going to have a voting party at our nearby drop box. Thanks for the tip.
