Never Forgotten Time

As a new administration prepares to address the collision of opposing ideologies as well as the pandemic, will we have learned from the past, or allow the fog of dishonesty to suffocate the remaining clear air of truth? (Image by redbubble)

Poem Artwork

Never Forgotten Time

Remembrance of chaotic time
Lingers amidst the stench and flames of battles fought,

While the winning remains denied by many.

Residue of billowing dust
And wilting spirits implore,
Often echoing back from porous walls
The inner self now embe dded
With crustaceous evil.

Horizons of learned time
Ask we reckon with nature's insistence,
Hearken to light,
Listen for what can still be heard,
Seen,
Touched,
Inhaled,
Savored.

But…

Yesterday’s timeless lessons
May vanish from consciousness,
Just as fragrance of a roadside flower passed over

Will never realize its essence,

Save purveyors of truth
Traveling with self-realization
Undaunted by past mistakes

As they continue their quest,

Never forgetting to occasionally

Look back over their shoulders

Inhale the fragrance of truth deeply

While holding remembrance of the never forgotten time.

With time comes change, and we easily forget. I don't remember what happened a few minutes ago as I forge ahead every day eating up new time like it would never go away. But I sent in a bit of nostalgia for the way things "used to be." Today they are no longer and probably should be abandoned for more relevant things to come.

"Inhale the fragrance of truth deeply" Learning from our mistakes, and never repeating them again- how wonderful that would be Bruce. It has never happened though, and because of humanities refusal to learn from history, an autocratic 4th Reich will once again shackle the world. It's imminent. Truth is so obscured nowadays, and lies so well established, that unless we love the Truth, we shall never recognize it. Thank you for sharing your opinions. rlc

A timely and important message at a crucial time that all need to heed.

Poignant piece, Odin. Time and lessons, so easily forgotten—what we work so hard for, bleed for, live for, die for... Occasionally look back and remember. Powerful imagery. Thanks for sharing.
