Nature’s Yin-yang Relationship
Awaiting warmer intervals,
Red wagon wheels in the snow
Knows time will invite
Surroundings to relax,
Unlock its frozen shackles,
Freeing movement again.
How easily we fault cyclic forces,
Nature merely managing chronology,
Creating allowance,
Choice,
Necessity,
Faith,
Trust,
Awe .
Like circular motion that is endless,
Existence in perpetuity accepts no end.
You,
Me,
Wagon wheels,
Water,
Rocks,
Are merely its flux.
Control is not ours.
Like our blood flow,
Nature's momentum
Will be where it needs to be,
Do what it needs to do,
Aware of the ever changing infinity,
We but students of its breadth.
Unfortunately,
Man invented the invisible prison,
"We are the chosen ones,"
A delusional security blanket,
An anomaly only servile ignorance adopts,
Clings to ,
And finally
Succumbs to.
In Goliath's world,
Such clouded reality
Ignores spring thaws,
When frozen wagon wheels
Embrace liberation,
Enjoy innocence
Not yet entrapped.
Shortly will come
A child's joyful discovery,
Gently tugging loose
Winter's hesitant release,
Accepting movement’s need for rest,
But only while Yin-yang’s interdependent forces
Transform their passive into active continuum.
Years passed. Sixteen years later, my younger twin brothers were born. For a while my sister pulled them around in the wagon, but eventually, it became theirs to use. Years later, I rode my sister's bicycle during my senior year in college. Years after that, in 1997, I saw the bike and riding condition at my parents cottage in the garage with 1965 license plates.
The wagon in picture, like those left out in the rain, rusted away many years ago. Plastics don't rust, but they just remain in landfills and washed to the sea where they are continuing to wreck havoc with the environment.
