Heart's Incandescent Mantle

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

The metaphoric mantle is often a lacy hood or sheath of some refractory essence that gives light by incandescence when placed over a flame. (Image by istock)

Poem Artwork

Heart’s Incandescent Mantle

A lesson’s refractory lesion is slow in its healing,

knowing well that its mantle of determined recovery wanes

each time it feels beautiful peace unspoken.

The silence of respect knows the smiles within your eyes of disarming twinkles,

reminds the heart of joy of what was the now of then,

when your sparks of kindness ventured forth in a whispered exhale

to propel the fallen spider back to its web.

Is it…

Exalting truths begetting gladness,

ushering in imagination to wash away the flames of discontent,

to illuminate the darkness with radiance

to once again allow the melodies of spirit to arouse the dance,

knowing the heart’s mantle makes way for muse-energizing purchase?

Yes…

Time asks the heart’s mantle to open once again to the soft voice of potential elation

heralding in the reverence to a soul’s resilient compassion for everlasting love.

Love’s state of being continues to reside in the levitational calm,

believing attachment’s flame will find its endearing place once again.

This poem, while I understand where it is headed, healing, new love and enlightenment, is the characterization of the heart having a mantle that is molten kind of throws me. The line has fiery passion, but the heart, using its own blood, pumps heated blood from the kidneys throughout the body to keep our body temperature on an even keel.

While comparing passionate blood with molten lava might be might be a good analogy, I was trying to find it here and failed except for your conclusion.
