Poetry is not to be written with your last drop of blood
on the edge of your bed dripping life on the floor.

Poetry is not an ode to a razorblade or an ode to a knife.
It is not a psychiatrist dispensing euphoria to the depressed;

Poetry will not cure, it should not be a cry for help
It is not useful in the quest to be known.

Poetry is not an excuse to butcher
the English language and call it "expression"

Poetry is observation. Poetry is metaphor,
Poetry is the million little things that go unnoticed.

Inspiration is infinite. Far from finite;
(...like death and razorblades...)


I say to the general population of people who call themselves "poets":
Go ahead and steal this. Maybe you'll learn something!
