1 Extremist + 1 Bomb = 1 Terrorist

See Something, Say Something

There are few things as marvelous as the human brain
It’s the reservoir of all we are and retain
It’s our history, our hopes, our present, and more—
A glimpse of tomorrow from a far-distant shore.

Some of us flourish, some wither and die
In pain, or glory, or brashness we try
Pushing boundaries that challenge our vigor and daring
With imagination, skill, courage and caring.

Extremists appear like a blaring alarm
Not merely to obstruct they intend us real harm
Wrapped in beliefs immersed in distortions and fear
They want to crush and destroy all things we hold dear.

What distinguishes the anger of the terrorist’s kind
From the poison dispensed from the extremist’s mind?
One explodes his rage with blood in the streets
The other conceals his contempt in roguish deceit.

They are equal offenders to all of humanity
With results that reek of hate and insanity
It’s just about them as they kill and they maim
With never a care for the victims they claim.

Extremists seek to reverse humanity’s gains
They thrive where tyrants put the innocent in chains
History suggests justice should carry the day
So defeat them we must, let hell pave their way.

A call to action we all should heed. Unfortunately, it is all too easy for ideology to creep into the minds and souls of so many who have lost all hope of fitting in and reach out to these ideologies to verify their existence. We all need to be ever watchful because these people are in our midst and we should report them to authorities if we find any evidence that they might commit terrorism.

Awesome poem, Edward! Horrible subject matter...but sadly it is the reality of our world.
