I came to a fork
In a narrow road
Unannounced and
Unexpected.
And I had a choice
To make.
It was freely offered
There was no coercion
To be or not to be
It hinted of grandeur…
Of better things to come
Was I someone
Who seeks safe
Passage
At all times
In all ways?
Oh the paths were not equal
One was well worn
Where many feet
Had walked.
It looked so safe
Not a hint of
Trouble.
The other bode
Challenge
And danger
And mystery
It spelled uncertainty
To eye and ear
And not a footprint
To guide me.
Then far off
In the distance
I heard a voice sublime
It beckoned oh so gently
Without reason wit
Or rhyme
It hinted of adventure
Of romance and
Raucous times
It stirred my meager
Urgings
Just once and then
No more.
I cleared my agenda
Then bravely stepped
On that pathway to
Who knows where
And never looked back
Somehow I knew
That you were
Waiting there.
...as you've risen to the challenge
of..."a voice sublime"..."beckoned
oh! so gently without reason"...and
an important occasion "of romance and
Raucous times"...you let us see...how
such a magic works.
Poetry worth "waiting there".
Thank you Edward for sharing your verse.
